What You Need To Know
Before You Book
Absolutely not. While many of our guests are navigating separation or divorce, Mending Hearts is also for those grieving the loss of a loved one, recovering from heartbreak, adjusting to an empty nest, or simply feeling stuck after a significant life change. Our retreats are designed for people who are ready to heal, rediscover themselves and embrace a new chapter. Whether you're rebuilding your confidence, searching for purpose or hoping to surround yourself with like-minded people who truly understand, you'll be welcomed into a supportive community where lasting friendships often begin.
No, all rooms are sole occupancy.
We kindly ask that you don't use your phone during the event unless for an emergency. Remember the retreat is for you to take time out for your yourself and get on the path to healing.
Unfortunately due to council restrictions during COVID-19 we are very limited on space, however we do plan to offer individuals to come along during the daytime only in 2021.
If you've reached a point where you know something needs to change but you're unsure what the next step looks like, this retreat could be exactly what you need. Many of our guests arrive feeling emotionally exhausted, overwhelmed or disconnected from themselves. Over six days, you'll have the opportunity to slow down, reflect, gain professional support, connect with others who genuinely understand, and begin rebuilding your confidence in a safe and supportive environment.
Our retreats are designed primarily for adults aged 50 and over, although we occasionally welcome younger guests if we feel they're a good fit for the group. What matters most isn't your age, it's that you're ready to embrace change, support others and invest in your own wellbeing.
We intentionally keep our retreats small to ensure everyone receives the support, attention and personal space they deserve. Our intimate group size allows you to build genuine connections while still having plenty of time to yourself whenever you need it.
Almost all of our guests arrive on their own, and many tell us they felt exactly the same before booking. From the moment you arrive a car will be waiting for you, and you'll be welcomed into a small group of like-minded people who understand what you're going through. When booking please mention this and the host will try to set you up with a travel buddy where possible
Mending Hearts is designed for people navigating life's major transitions, including divorce, grief, heartbreak and significant personal change. While our retreats include professionally facilitated group therapy and are deeply supportive, they are not intended to replace specialist mental health treatment. If you're experiencing severe depression, PTSD, suicidal thoughts or other complex mental health conditions, we may recommend more intensive clinical support before attending one of our retreats. We believe in helping people find the right level of care for where they are in their journey. One organisation we confidently recommend is New Paradigm in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Their residential programme specialises in intensive mental health treatment delivered by a multidisciplinary clinical team.
